All published versions of BoothDock Studio, newest first. Booths fetch updates by themselves at night; the installer is available in the Hub at any time.
iPadOS 17 or later, and since version 1.4.0 also for iPhone (iOS 17 or later). Canon and Sony connect to the iPad directly by USB cable.
Mac · on the App Store
BoothDock Studio for Mac
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. A native Mac app in the same App Store listing as the iPad.
Without an account BoothDock Studio runs in trial mode: capture, layout and printing all work, and the pictures carry a watermark. It stays on the Free plan; only a paid plan removes it.
Version 1.6.2 — Reliable deleting at the booth, sturdier camera and watchdog
Deleting at the booth: photos a guest deletes are now reliably not uploaded – even if the upload had already started. The delete button only appears where deleting in the Hub really works. If an upload fails, the Hub now shows the reason. On Windows from this version; iPhone, iPad and Mac follow after approval by Apple.
Also: Canon cameras no longer get stuck on “Camera busy” after a failed shot. The Hub shows which camera model is working at the booth. If the booth app is already running, the watchdog takes it over instead of restarting it again and again. On Windows from this version; iPhone, iPad and Mac follow after approval by Apple.
Version 1.6.1 — Rental end and extending at the booth
Rental end and extending at the booth: if you rent out your photo booth for a fixed time, enter the end of the rental for the event in the Hub. At that time the booth stops starting new sessions and shows your message; a session already running is finished. If you like, guests can extend right there: they choose one of the tiers you set and pay with their own phone, and the booth carries on immediately. Extending runs via guest payments. Shortly before the end, a small notice appears on the start screen. Off by default. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.6.1 from the App Store.
Also: when the booth is locked – at the end of the rental, outside the time window or from the Hub – the lock screen now fully covers the start text and buttons; only your background image stays visible. The offers at the guest payment checkout are now neatly arranged in rows, without a single tile left over at the end. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.6.1 from the App Store.
Version 1.6.0 — Guest screens from the Hub, Custom AI styles, Moving photo, Lighting & effects
Screen editor in the Hub: all five guest screens can now be designed in the Hub – texts, backgrounds and, in the free layout “Logos & texts”, logos and lettering anywhere you like. Once the design is assigned to an event, all booths of that event take it over; the settings on the booth itself stay untouched and apply again as soon as the design is removed. In addition, all 27 buttons of the guest flow can now be styled – from Start, Next, Back, Keep and Retake to the share and gallery buttons: colour, icon or your own button image, and the label in every guest language. If you change nothing, everything stays as before. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.6.0 from the App Store.
Custom AI styles: in the Hub you create your own styles and describe the look you want; a test image (1 credit) shows the result and then serves as the preview image. At the booth, guests see your own styles among the other styles. The Free plan allows 1 custom style, the Pro plan 10, the Business plan 25. New as a Beta: Moving photo – for every photo the booth records a short clip without sound that starts just before the shot; it can be played back on the result and is included in the booth gallery and in the export. Moving photo is off by default. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.6.0 from the App Store.
Lighting & effects (Beta): the booth switches LED lamps, effect machines such as fog or confetti, and smart plugs to match each step of the guest flow. The camera or printer can be restarted via its plug – by button, from the Hub or automatically when the camera hangs. On Windows, Matter devices can also be added (Beta, hidden by default, setup also via Bluetooth); on iPhone and iPad, devices from Apple Home as well (Beta). Everything is off by default. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.6.0 from the App Store.
Also: the guest screen is calmer – the event name at the top left is hidden by default, and the status indicator at the top right only appears when there is a problem: camera, printer (out of paper, fault, few prints left), no connection or a stuck upload. Under “Screen elements” you can bring back the previous look. If you like, guests select several photos in the gallery at the booth and take them along together via QR code or email. If the booth starts without internet, it catches up on the Hub features as soon as the connection is up. Two styles in the AI catalogue are now called “Aquarell-Zeichentrick” and “3D-Animationsfilm”. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.6.0 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.13 — Guest flow your way, lock screen, battery in the Hub
Guest flow your way: in the screen designer a button can start a session directly in one mode – so the start screen can carry its own button per mode (photo, GIF, boomerang, video, 360°, AI), with its own image if you like. The cancel button during the countdown can be styled in size, contrast and position, and fixed elements such as the status bar, photo counter or countdown digits can be hidden. If you wish, guests keep their photo or retake it, replace a single photo at the end of a multi-photo session and, in AI mode, approve their photo before it goes to the AI. The gear icon to the admin area can be placed anywhere and made invisible; on a keyboard, Ctrl+Shift+A leads to the same PIN prompt. If you change nothing, everything stays as before. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.13 from the App Store.
Lock screen: for each event you can set a time window outside of which the booth is locked – with your own text, image and a countdown to opening. Locking and unlocking also works from the Hub, from the Station and via the local API; at the device only the operator PIN unlocks, and running sessions are not interrupted. The booth also reports its battery level to the Hub, which shows it with the booths and warns by email when the battery runs low without a power supply. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.13 from the App Store.
Also: the local API can now start a session directly with a template, style and background. 360° videos are additionally available in the photo formats 3:2 and 2:3. The event’s print counter in the Hub now reliably counts prints from the result screen – prints that came only after the upload used to be missing. In Lithuanian, Latvian, Slovenian and Bulgarian the Hub is now called “Hub” everywhere. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.13 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.12 — Guest payments at the photo booth
Guest payments: in the Hub, under “Guest payments” for each event, you can let guests pay at the photo booth themselves – per session, for prints or as a package of sessions and prints, with up to six offers and, if you like, free prints per session. The booth shows the amount and a QR code, the guest pays on their own phone via Stripe, and then it starts; the money goes directly to your Stripe account. Purchased sessions and prints remain as credit for the event, even after a restart. No commission: guest payments are included in the Pro plan; only the usual Stripe fees apply. On Windows from this version, and now on iPhone, iPad and Mac as well – at the latest since version 1.5.13 from the App Store.
Payment applies to every way into a session or a print: start button, 360° triggered by motion, stations, second screen and the local API. In “Test mode” you can try everything on the real booth – even without Pro and without your own Stripe account, using the Stripe test card; the booth then shows a “Test mode” banner. Without internet the booth waits by default until the connection is back, or keeps running for free if you prefer. With guest payments switched off, everything stays as before. BoothDock Station understands payments with its own next version. On Windows from this version, and now on iPhone, iPad and Mac as well – at the latest since version 1.5.13 from the App Store.
QR codes now also carry long links (up to QR version 25), such as the link to the payment page; short links stay as small as before. On Windows from this version, and now on iPhone, iPad and Mac as well – at the latest since version 1.5.13 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.11 — Countdown & announcements, photo challenges at the booth
Countdown & announcements: under Design › Guest screens › Capture there are now seven animated countdown styles (e.g. Ring, Hearts, Old film) and new sound packs with real recordings – Drum, Bell, Retro game, Party, Fanfare and more; the previous tones remain selectable as “electronic”. With Pro: your own sounds (per number or one track across the whole countdown), your own video instead of the numbers, and “Lines & announcements” at nine moments – from the start screen through “Smile!” (also as a GIF or video) to the end of the session, in order or at random. 61 lines in 24 languages, spoken on request by included voices in 17 languages; the booth downloads the voice once and then speaks even without internet. If you change nothing, everything stays as before. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.11 from the App Store.
Photo challenges at the booth: if “Also offer at the photo booth” is switched on under the event’s Photo challenges in the Hub, the booth shows a challenge before the capture (“Your challenge”) – the guest gets going, draws another one or continues without a challenge. The photo goes to the gallery as usual and counts as a solved challenge towards the event’s progress (not for teams). In templates the placeholder {aufgabe} shows the challenge text. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.11 from the App Store.
Fixed: if the booth returned to the start on its own during the sticker or guest book step, the photos of that session were not uploaded. Now they reach the gallery – as far as they were finished by then, i.e. without stickers or the guest book page. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.11 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.10 — Webhooks on all platforms, a separate address per event
Webhooks now also on iPhone, iPad and Mac: the same events and the same format as on Windows. On Apple devices the booth only calls addresses (no program launch); http:// works there only within the local network, otherwise https://. On iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.10 from the App Store.
New and purely additional: under System › Automation › Webhooks › “Separate address per event (optional)” each event can get its own address – so a Shelly, WLED or Tasmota on the Wi-Fi switches directly at the countdown or at the capture, for example. The previous address and existing scripts keep running unchanged. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.10 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.9 — Your own gallery address offline too, clear notice when the camera fails
Pro accounts with their own gallery address: the QR code and print link now carry that address even offline (name.boothdock.cloud). QR codes already printed stay valid. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.9 from the App Store.
Photo mode: if the camera does not fire, the guest sees “The camera didn’t take the photo.” with “Try again” instead of an often too-dark substitute image; without input the booth returns to the start after 20 seconds. On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.9 from the App Store.
Camera notices: on the Mac the booth now shows its own notice when macOS does not release the camera, and names the fix. The Sony notices in the admin are now correct for all bodies: on bodies without in-camera video, video mode records the viewfinder image (without sound). On Windows from this version, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with version 1.5.9 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.8 — Photo by email made easier, iPad camera more reliable
Photo by email: the “Get by email” button now appears even without the marketing checkbox – the address is only used for sending and is not stored. If email is the only sharing option, the button becomes the main button; if you like, the window opens automatically (setting). An address entered in the guest data form is carried over, and the CSV export can output only guests who gave consent. On Windows as well as on iPhone, iPad and Mac from this version – on the App Store since 23 October 2026.
Camera on iPhone, iPad and Mac: on the iPad the camera now reconnects by itself after locking or going to the background; more Canon bodies are set up correctly automatically. On the App Store since 23 October 2026.
Version 1.5.7 — Pro trial once per device
When connecting to the Hub, the booth now sends an anonymous check value of its device – never the identifier itself. That way the 14-day Pro trial applies once per device, even after a reinstall. Nothing changes in how the booth runs. On Windows from this version, and now on iPhone, iPad and Mac as well – at the latest since version 1.5.8 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.6 — Events without restart, printers in the Hub
When you assign an event to a booth in the Hub, it now picks it up in about a minute – without restarting the app. If the booth is already running another event, you switch it at the booth as before.
The booth reports its print profiles to the Hub: paper size, copies per sheet and the 2-inch cut appear in the booth details. That way a wrongly set-up printer can be spotted remotely. On Windows from this version, and now on iPhone, iPad and Mac as well – at the latest since version 1.5.8 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.5 — Warning in the printer profile
Printer profile: if “Copies per sheet” is above 1 but the paper format is still on “Automatic”, BoothDock now shows a clear warning – otherwise the design would be printed once across the whole sheet. How to get two 2×6 strips on one 4×6 sheet is shown in the wiki under “Printing”. On Windows from this version, and now on iPhone, iPad and Mac as well – at the latest since version 1.5.8 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.4 — Export to USB stick, a camera that recovers by itself, designer with zoom
Real-time export: every finished file now also stays on the booth as a local copy. A plugged-in USB stick automatically gets a copy, and anything created without the stick is caught up as soon as it is plugged back in. You will find it in the admin under “Automation” → “Real-time export”.
Camera: if the camera service hangs, the booth now restarts it by itself instead of reporting it as busy for good. And the log bundle for support is complete – with the activity log of the last 30 days, email addresses blacked out.
Template designer: zoom up to 400 % (also with Ctrl + mouse wheel), delete with the Del key, and import of frames whose photo areas are magenta (#FF00FF) or black. The photos sit slightly larger beneath the frame – no more white edges.
New templates and the default templates show the event name instead of a fixed “Unser Event”; existing templates stay as they are. The event list shows the date from the Hub. On Windows from this version, and now on iPhone, iPad and Mac as well – at the latest since version 1.5.8 from the App Store.
Version 1.5.3 — One number for all, Sony exposure on iPad and Mac
Nothing changes on Windows: this version simply brings all platforms to the same number.
iPad and Mac, Sony: shutter speed and ISO can now be chosen straight from the booth.
Version 1.5.2 — Viewfinder during video, a clear message without internet
Windows, Canon: during video the viewfinder image now keeps running instead of freezing. It also runs without dropouts when you switch cameras and with Sony.
Pairing without internet: instead of a technical error text you now see a clear “No connection to the BoothDock Hub – check the internet connection”. And the Hub dot in the admin only lights up green when the booth is really paired. On Windows from this version, and now on iPhone, iPad and Mac as well – at the latest since version 1.5.8 from the App Store.
Preview, GoPro over Wi-Fi: the first connection now waits more patiently for the camera – up to 20 seconds.
Version 1.5.1 — Online right away, GoPro as a preview
After pairing, at start-up and when you return to the app, the booth now reports to the Hub right away – not after about a minute. Until now, a booth that went into the background right after pairing could never show as “online”, yet it still took up its slot. On Windows from this version, and now on iPhone, iPad and Mac as well – at the latest since version 1.5.8 from the App Store.
Preview on Windows: GoPro. The booth triggers it via Bluetooth and fetches photos and slow motion over the camera’s Wi-Fi – tested with a HERO9. For this the booth needs a second Wi-Fi adapter; you pair the camera in the admin under Camera with “Pair GoPro”. Newer models over a USB cable are in the works.
Canon and Sony: when you leave the camera view in the admin, the camera’s viewfinder image now stops as well. It starts again as soon as it is needed.
Fixed: the loading circle after the capture now spins reliably – even while the picture is being rendered.
Version 1.5 — Stations, guest book and a new start screen
New: BoothDock Station – a second device next to the booth, currently a Windows PC. Guests start their capture there, browse the event’s pictures, print and share them, give their photo a look and stickers, or take a number when it gets busy. For you, the console shows every booth at a glance.
Guest book: guests leave a drawing or signature with a message – as a sheet of its own or right in the photo, at the booth or at the station.
Guest data: your own form before the capture or before sharing, marketing consent kept separate, CSV export – and, with a paired booth, collected in the Hub.
New start screen: one sentence in the middle, touch anywhere to start, the latest guest photos as a fan of Polaroids. If you like, guests choose their language themselves.
Second screen for a slideshow or a gallery with printing. In the admin, gallery, language, start & window and the design of the 360° clip have fixed places. Fixed: the loading circle spins again, and the still image after a video is no longer black.
Version 1.4 — 360°, GIFs from real photos and automation
New: 360° / slow motion as a mode of its own – with a speed sequence, music, overlays and a colour look, started by key, foot switch or phone. The Sony A7 IV films it at 100 frames per second.
GIFs are now made from real photos with a countdown instead of the viewfinder image. For boomerangs, the Canon M50 and Sony A7 IV record a short camera clip – delivered as GIF and MP4, and much smaller than before.
Automation: real-time export to a folder (USB stick, network drive, cloud), triggers for lights and your own scripts at every step of a session, and a local API – on your own Wi-Fi too, if you want.
Colour looks: import your own .cube files and apply them to photos and 360° clips.
More reliable cameras: Sony with a faster connection and a smoother viewfinder, shooting even when autofocus finds nothing, and switching from movie to photo on its own (ZV-E10). Canon with the full ISO list and no false battery reading on mains power. Every phone now plays camera clips.
Version 1.3 — Pairing, switching accounts and a new face
Unpairing in the Hub now takes effect on the booth right away: it shows „Not connected“, and its events stay on as local events, photos included.
An unpaired booth always starts on the pairing screen. „Continue without hub“ still works – for that start.
Switching accounts is clean now: events and not-yet-uploaded sessions of the old account no longer end up in the new one. When disconnecting, Studio asks whether Hub events should stay as local events.
The Hub now shows each booth’s temperature, where the computer reports it, and its response time to the Hub.
A new icon: Boo with a camera – on the start screen, in the taskbar, in the installer and on the iPad.
Version 1.2 — Cut-out and printing
The cut-out now snaps to the edge of the photo by default, so the transition to the background looks cleaner. You can switch it back off under „Snap edge to image“ in the camera section.
Cutting out is twice as fast. With large photos, guests used to wait several seconds for each picture in a layout.
AI-transformed pictures can now be printed – the print button was missing there, even though those are the ones people most want on paper.
The layout picker shows larger tiles and only the preview image. Templates from the Hub finally show what they really look like instead of a blank white area.
Two new buttons in the template designer: „Fetch from Hub“ and „Export“.
Version 1.1 — Live view and exposure
Live view is smooth: around 11 frames per second have become 30.
Aperture, shutter speed, ISO and white balance can be set straight from the booth for the first time - on Canon and on Sony.
The camera battery level now sits next to the camera row.
For 360-degree booths, photo capture can be switched off.
Smaller corrections.
Version 1.0.39 — Guests delete their own shots, and everything gets faster
What used to be “Retake” is now “Delete”: the guest really discards the session at the booth - on the booth and in the Hub, for 15 minutes.
Green screen cut-out runs about eleven times faster.
The interface has been thinned out: tabs and collapsible areas instead of long lists of cards.
The Canon camera list is up to date; newly included is the EOS R6 Mark III, among others.
Smaller corrections.
Version 1.0.16 — Archive for uploaded sessions
Uploaded sessions stay in an archive on the booth. The new archive view lets you browse, open and re-upload individual sessions.
If an upload is interrupted, the booth finishes it later by itself.
The state of the camera bridge shows up in the Hub — down to individual self-repairs.
The operations log in the System tab has a scroll area of its own.
Smaller corrections.
Version 1.0.8 — Photo printers
On DNP printers, cut, overcoat and decurl can be set per print profile.
The paper level is read without sending a print job, and never in the middle of a running one.
The printer driver dialog opens straight from BoothDock.
Smaller corrections.
Version 1.0 — First public release
BoothDock Hub, the portal, is updated continuously and has no version numbers — changes there appear here only when they affect how Hub and Studio work together.
